The Berliner Philharmoniker give their last concert of the season at the Waldbühne Berlin - each year over 22,000 attendances join this concert at one of the most appealing outdoor amphitheatres on the European continent. This year the Berliner Philharmoniker play under the baton of Riccardo Chailly, who is renowned for having one of the broadest repertoires in the business with the brilliance to match. Besides Shostakovich’s Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra they present “Respighi’s “Fountains of Rome” and “Pines of Rome” from his famous orchestral Roman trilogy. Another highlight is the Suite from the film score to “La Strada” by Nino Rota, who composed the sound tracks of a great number of films of the Italian director Federico Fellini.
