Verbier Festival 2010: Nicholas Angelich

Nicholas Angelich piano

This series of twelve TV programmes presents the very best of the concerts of the 17th edition of the Verbier Festival with the most prestigious artists in classical music. As ever, the musical encounters gather established musicians such as Martha Argerich and David Guerrier performing the Shostakovich concerto for violin and trumpet or Menahem Pressler playing Mozart’s G major concerto under the baton of Daniel Harding. Piano recitals feature Yuja Wang, Nicholas Angelich and Adam Laloum (new First Prize of the Clara Haskil competition), while chamber music scores are played by no less than the Ebene Quartet, Daniel Hope, Vilde Frang, Gautier Capuçon, Leonidas Kavakos… The Verbier Festival Orchestra presents masterful performances conducted by Daniel Harding (Stravinsky: Rite of Spring, Brahms: Symphony No.2), Charles Dutoit (Berlioz, Prokofiev: Piano concerto No.2 with Yuja Wang) or Paul McCreesh (Gluck, Beethoven: Symphony No.7).
