The impressive and breathtaking scenery of the wild-romantic Roman quarry of St. Margarethen provides the perfect and unique backdrop for these live-recording of a colourful open-air staging of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida. These staging of Verdi's most famous opera is a festival for all the senses: the Roman quarry as a mystical center is an ideal stage for opera performances. Verdi's "grand opera" needs of course monumental elements: horses, elephants and more than 400 participants take part in the triumphal march at the end of the second act added to the opulent stage setting.
