"Once upon a time... LE HAVRE" is the 37th documentary of the collection "A Film & its Era" created by Marie Genin and Serge July and produced by Folamour Productions. This documentary relates the genesis, the making and the reception of the movie "LE HAVRE", a film shot in 2011 by Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismaki . "LE HAVRE" tells the destiny of a young African boy who illegally lands in a harbor in Normandy and is hidden by a modest couple living in one of the old working-class neighborhoods of the town. Directed by Auberi Edler, this documentary will focus on bringing Kaurismaki's film back into context, when Europe entered the first decade of the 21st century and developed more and more repressive laws in order to fight the raise of illegal immigration. The result was a repetition of tragedies that the film by Aki Kaurismaki strongly denounces in a very humanist way.
