Verbier 2016: Christian Tetzlaff

Christian Tetzlaff violin

Christian Tetzlaff plays three masterpieces from the solo violin repertoire by Ysaÿe, Bach and Bartók. Ysaÿe’s First Sonata in G minor was dedicated to virtuoso Joseph Szigeti and draws much inspiration from Bach’s Sonata No. 3 in C Major. The second part of the concert features the Sonata for Solo Violin by Bartók. This incredibly demanding piece was written for the great Yehudi Menuhin and was the composer’s last major work.

Repertoire

Ysaÿe: Sonata for Solo Violin Op.27 No.1 in G Minor; Bach: Violin Sonata No.3 in C major, BWV 1005; Bartók: Sonata for Solo Violin Sz. 117; Bach: Violin Sonata No.2 in A minor, BWV 1003 Andante
