Andras Schiff & Miklos Perenyi play Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata

Pianist András Schiff and cellist Miklos Perenyi come together to perform Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata. Initially written for Arpeggione, an instrument somewhere between viola and cello that disappeared a few years after the writing of this piece, the sonata retained an everlasting place in the chamber music repertoire for viola and cello. This recording makes clear why, as the musicians display the full beauty of the work in their playing.
