Waldbühne 2025
Danzón!
Live recording 28 June 2025, 8:15 pm, A Latin-American Night
Gustavo Dudamel and the Berliner Philharmoniker welcome the audience to a Latin American night at the Waldbühne in Berlin as the end-of-season concert 2025.
Dudamel celebrated his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker at the Waldbühne back in 2008 under the motto “Los ritmos de la noche”, followed by “A Midsummer night” in 2014 and “Legends of the Rhine” in 2017. For the fourth time they appear at one of the most appealing outdoor venues in Europe, and perform rousing dances from Bernstein’s musical West Side Story, in which Latin American sounds and rhythms are all-pervasive.
Gabriela Ortiz Torres: Kauyumari; Arturo Márquez: Danzón No. 8 “Homenaje to Maurice Ohana”; Aaron Copland: Old American Songs – First Set (arrangement for voice and orchestra with Ryan Speedo Green as soloist): The Boatmen's Dance, The Dodger, Long Time Ago, Simple Gifts, I Bought Me a Cat; Evencio Castellanos: Santa Cruz de Pacairigua; Roberto Sierra: Alegría; Duke Ellington: Martin Luther King: Three black kings, third movement; Leonard Bernstein: West Side Story: Symphonic Dances
