FOR ARVO - Concert in honor of Arvo Pärt

Georgijs Osokins piano

“What is the cost of a sound or a word? By thousands, they flow past our ears and have numbed our reception apparatus. To carefully consider each sound, word and act.” (Arvo Pärt)
Arvo Pärt is one of the most outstanding composers of our time, whose work has had a lasting impact on the perception and understanding of music. In 1976, he developed an unmistakable musical language that he called Tintinnabuli. This innovative form of expression has not only inspired a wide audience, but also continues to shape his artistic work to this day. Pärt does not follow a traditional school of composition and does not teach, yet his music has had a profound influence on the contemporary music scene.
Arvo Pärt's work has greatly changed the understanding of music and influenced world music in the second half of the 20th century.
This special concert features piano music that reflects the diversity and depth of Pärt's oeuvre. The pianist Georgijs Osokins plays a selection of works for piano solo by Arvo Pärt, including some new transcriptions written by him (Fratres, Fragile e conciliante).
