Seasons of Dance
A sensitive dialogue between choreography, music, nature, and the camera. Four seasons. Four landscapes. Four choreographers. Four phases of love portrayed by dance couples.
Each chapter of the film is shot in a remarkable natural setting. Spring sequences trace a river from a waterfall to the sea. Summer unfolds in the dunes of an endless desert. Autumn takes place in a deep forest and in misty moorlands. Winter scenes are set on snow-capped peaks overlooking a sea of clouds.
In Spring, Franck Chartier (of the company Peeping Tom) stages the birth of romantic feeling.
In Summer, Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber express the intensity of passion.
Autumn is entrusted to the Dutch duo Imre & Marne van Opstal, who explore the conflicts and trials of the couple.
Finally, Winter, choreographed by French-American Emilie Leriche, evokes rupture and detachment.
