Ravel's complete chamber music (1): Renaud Capuçon, Guillaume Bellom, Arthur Hinnewinkel, and the Quatuor Dutilleux
The 2025 Rencontres Musicales d'Évian pay tribute to Maurice Ravel 150th birthday with an all-star lineup performing the complete set of Ravel's highly spirited, kaleidoscopically colourful chamber music! This volume brings violin virtuoso Renaud Capuçon together with pianists Guillaume Bellom and Arthur Hinnewinkel to perform both of the Sonatas for Violin and Piano: the youthful, single-movement No. 1 in A minor, and mature, jazz-inflected No. 2 in G whose second movement, entitled "Blues," is one of Ravel's most memorable homages to the new musical modes popular in 20th-century America. Finally, the four talented musicians of the Quatuor Dutilleux perform the atmospheric and richly textured String Quartet in F, featuring an immediately compelling, pizzicato-heavy second movement that counts among the most charmingly original creations in Ravel's oeuvre.
Ravel: Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A Minor, Op. Posth.; Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré (Lullaby at Gabriel Fauré's name); Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in G Major; String Quartet in F Major, M. 35
