Thibaut Garcia - A guitar with a view
Few documentaries have been devoted to the world of guitar, the most popular instrument of all.
With Thibaut Garcia, director Bruno Monsaingeon takes us into the virtually unexplored continent of classical guitar.
This portrait traces the dazzling career of the guitarist who is still in his early thirties, from his hometown of Toulouse to the prestigious Prizes that launched his career. A supreme virtuoso and an outstanding musician, Thibaut Garcia discusses working as a soloist, in a duo with guitarist Antoine Morinière or with dancer Aure Wachter (exploring John Dowland's Flow my Tears), as a chamber musician with the Arod Quartet (in Boccherini's Fandango), as well as his interest in lutherie, teaching, and passing on his knowledge.
This portrait is accompanied by archive footage of the young Thibaut and numerous works - by Albéniz, Barrios, or Brouwer - filmed especially for this film, not to mention our hero's astonishing silent immersion among the monks of the Abbey in Solesmes (France) to perform Bach's Goldberg Variations with his closest friend and colleague Antoine Morinière.
