The Klavier-Festival Ruhr opens its 2026 edition in Dortmund with an evening that immediately shows what this festival stands for: great musical tradition, and the joy of rethinking things.
In the first part of the programme, Yulianna Avdeeva, Omer Meir Wellber, and the WDR Sinfonieorchester perform Béla Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3. This late work is Bartók’s best-known piano concerto and a milestone in music: radiant, virtuosic, and full of rhythmic energy. Avdeeva brings to it the blend of clarity and emotional intensity for which she has been admired for many years.
