Gran Gala di Verdi
In 2001, during the Verdi commemorative year, some of the finest singers of our time assembled in Parma to honour the maestro’s memory in a gala of distinguished singing art. From the start, Verdi had the opera composer’s most necessary gift, the ability to write melodies that communicate a character's emotion and stir emotions in those who listen. He wrote 28 operas in all, including La traviata, Aida, Nabucco and Rigoletto. A considerable number of them were world successes and have remained fixtures in every opera house’s repertory throughout the last century. This programme demonstrates - better than any single opera could do - the breadth of Verdi's genius and melodic talent as it features highlights of most of his operas
Scenes and Arias from Il trovatore, Nabucco, Rigoletto, La traviata, Un ballo in maschera, Don Carlo, Aida, Otello, Falstaff, Ernani, Il corsaro, La forza del destino, Jérusalem
