Europakonzert 2003 from Lisbon
Performed in a different European city each year, the incomparable Berlin Philharmonic's annual Europa Konzert commemorates the orchestra's foundation in 1882 while celebrating the cultural life of the EU. From the historic Hieronymus Monastery in Lisbon the concert features pianist Maria João Pires - one of the greatest Mozart interpreter of our time - joining conductor Pierre Boulez in a performance of W. A. Mozart's "Piano Concerto, No. 20, KV 466". Also Béla Bartók's "Concert for Orchestra", as well as Claude Debussy's "Le tombeau de Couperin" are featured.
