Sir Simon Rattle

This year’s Gala from Berlin is completely dedicated to W.A. Mozart. In tribute of his 250th birthday the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle give a jolly upbeat for the following year. The program will include some of the greatest works by Mozart, among them excerpts of The Marriage of Figaro. This witty, satirical play about the foibles of lovers and the presumptions of class, is enriched by the formidable soloists Magdalena Kozena, Camilla Nylund and John Relyea. Not to forget Emmanual Ax, who plays the Jeunehomme piano concerto. Mozart’s Symphony No.38 tops this wonderful mixture off.

Repertoire

Ouverture “Le nozze di Figaro” KV 492; Symphony No. 38, KV 504 “Prager”; Piano Concerto No. 9, KV 271 “Jeunehomme”; Final “Le nozze di Figaro” KV 492
