W. A. Mozart: Die Entführung aus dem Serail

Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) one of Mozart’s five great repertoire operas, was a great success during Mozart’s lifetime and to this day has not lost any of its magic. In the Schwetzingen Entführung aus dem Serail, which was so amusingly and yet sensitively staged by Michael Hampe, Gianluigi Gelmetti led his excellent soloists, including Ruth Ann Swenson and Kurt Rydl to an ensemble performance of great unity which was interspersed with exact and beautifully worked dialogue. Recorded at in the small, jewel-like Rococo Theatre of Schwetzingen Palace.
