Philippe Jaroussky: Dolce Tormento

Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, musical direction
Emöke Barath, soprano
Anthea Pichanick, contralto
Philippe Jaroussky, countertenor

The Ensemble I Gemelli takes us on a journey to the heart of the Italian 17th century, between cult arias and cantatas of the period. A timeless rendezvous at the Théâtre Graslin in Nantes.

From Monterverdi to Cavalli via Sances, Strozzi and Carissimi, the Ensemble I Gemelli embraces a myriad of Italian works from the 17th century. Created by Emiliano Gonzalez Toro and Mathilde Etienne in 2018, the Ensemble specializes in 17th century vocal music. I Gemelli is characterized, moreover, by an original musical direction: starting from the song, the continuo and the orchestra being considered as an expansion of the song. A closed-door concert to discover in its simplicity and power.
