Czech Philharmonic: Jakub Hrusa & Lisa Batiashvili play Saint-Saens, Brahms & Dvorak
Lisa Batiashvili, who is one of the most renowned musical artists of today, presents herself for the first time with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. For her debut, she chose the third violin concerto by Camille Saint Saëns. Under the baton of the orchestra’s principal guest conductor Jakub Hrůša, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra continues with Brahms’s classically inspired and increasingly complex variations on a chorale theme. The programme ends with more variations: Dvorák’s theme of the Symphonic Variations comes from “The Fiddler”, one of his own songs for male choir, and the variations that follow its presentation encompass a colourful range of moods, culminating in a fugue which suddenly becomes a lively polka.
