Upcoming Production June 2022
This year, the Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko end the season in the Waldbühne with star pianist Daniil Trifonov, who is the perfect match for Rachmaninov’s yearning and rebellious Second Piano Concerto. He brings out both the vehement virtuosity and the fragile delicacy of this music. Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is also on the programme. In rapid succession we experience scenes of tremendous force and richness, from a droll ballet of chicks to the grotesque hut of the witch Baba Yaga.
Anatoly Lyadov: Kikimora, Op. 63; Sergei Rachmaninov: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in C minor, op. 18; Modest Mussorgsky: Pictures at an exhibition (orch. Maurice Ravel)
