Nielsen, Nielsen, Nielsen! Symphony No.2
Listen to the sea, the birds and the sounds of crowds welcoming the ferry to the Faroe Islands and the following festivity in An Imaginary Journey to the Faroe Islands - one of Nielsen’s last pieces for orchestra. The Hymnus Amoris is about love and all its joy and sorrow seen through a lifetime. One of Carl Nielsen’s most well-known and beloved orchestral works is his second symphony called The Four Temperaments. Each movement paints a musical picture of one of the four classical temperaments: Choleric, Phlegmatic, Melancholic, and Sanguine.
Recorded in DR Koncerthuset 2023 featuring Fabio Luisi, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Concert Choir, Danish National Junior Choir, Liv Redpath – soprano and Sebastian Kolhepp – tenor.
