Classic Archive 086 - Amadeus String Quartet 2
At the beginning of this 21st century we keep rediscovering with admiration the Amadeus Quartet as the greatest string quartet for the classic German repertoire since the war. This ensemble stands out from the others for its balance, harmony and above all for the exceptional quality of the musicians’ phrasing – especially that of their 1st violin, Norbert Brainin. In this episode we witness the admirable unity in their interpretation of Beethoven’s Quartets n°4 and n°6, recorded on the occasion of the bicentennial anniversary of the composer’s birth in 1970. Also included is the Andantino of Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, with Jacques Lancelot on clarinet.
