Classic Archive 088 - Stern / Istomin / Rose (2)
The Istomin-Rose Trio was undoubtedly the most brilliant ensemble of this type after the war. It brought together three major figures in American music who travelled together around the world winning huge public acclaim. Classic Archive has dedicated two episodes to this trio. The first starts with Beethoven’s Op.1 n°2 Trio and continues with the first Trio by Brahms. French television had filmed all of the Brahms Trios in 1974 and Classic Archive is proud to present them restored to their former glory. Logically, this second Classic Archive episode presents Trios n° 2 and 3 by Brahms, two great masterpieces from this very special repertoire.
Brahms: Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello No. 2 in C Major, Op. 87; Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello No. 3 in C minor, Op. 101
