Ute Lemper – Songs for Eternity
Ute Lemper vocals and musical direction
In "Songs for Eternity", Ute Lemper brings to life compositions and lyrics by Jewish musicians and artists that were written in concentration camps during World War II and entrusted to her in the form of a songbook by her agent, Orly Beigel. This moving concert film documents the two in Bergen-Belsen, where Orly’s mother was imprisoned and later liberated by the U.S. Army from a train near Farsleben in 1945. With great sensitivity and depth, Ute Lemper brilliantly reveals the range of emotions of the interned composers and pays a heartfelt musical tribute to their profound wartime experiences.
