Wiener Streichsextett: Schönberg: Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4 , String Sextet
Wiener Streichsextett
The Wiener Streichsextett, founded in 1981, probably is one of the most famous ensembles of all time in its genre. In this special recording they perform the String Sextet Op. 4 by Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg. The work named “Verklärte Nacht” (Transfigured Night) was inspired by a poem of the same name and is recognized as a peak of the late romantic development. The ensemble performs the piece, which borders on the modern, with such passion and excitation, that it is impossible for the listener not to be drawn in.
