Daniel Barenboim: A Life in Music
“Ever since I can remember I wanted to be a conductor. The piano fascinated me, but I was even more fascinated by all the different sound of the orchestra and, later on, by the repertoire of the orchestra.”
Daniel Barenboim talks about his world of music as a pianist and a conductor of symphonic music and opera.
“I’ve always been very curious about new music, and I am curious about new elements in the old music. I played my first concert in 1950 and – looking back- I see certain works had a temporary interest for me and I did them at a certain moment of my life and I do them occasionally, and there are other works that have become really life companions.”
