Chopin. I am not afraid of Darkness

with Fares Basmadji, Leszek Mozdzer, Won Jae Yeon

"Chopin. I am not afraid of Darkness" is an unusual documentary film asking whether classical music can heal places affected by war and suffering, taking the viewer on a cinematic journey through unique and sinister sceneries. It weaves the stories of three outstanding pianists, a Pole - Leszek Możdżer, a Korean Won Jae - Yeon, and a Syrian immigrant, half a Pole - Fares, who prepare for special concerts where no one would expect to hear live music: at the former German Nazi Concentration Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, on the border with dictatorial North Korea, and in the city center of Beirut, right after the explosion in the port there. These places need music and its power to restore dreams and trigger emotions. Will the sound of Chopin help them heal?
