Les Métamorphoses, Pieter Wispelwey – Weinberg’s Cello Works

The orchestra Les Métamorphoses and acclaimed cellist Pieter Wispelwey recorded an album around the works of Polish composer Mieczysław Weinberg in the summer of 2021. Weinberg's music recounts the traumas, loss and tragedies he endured throughout his life. Since his obscure death in 1996, a generation of musicians has brought Weinberg's music to a contemporary audience. 
This concert film beautifully weaves Weinberg's music together with photographic art by Peter De Bruyne. Live images from De Bijloke Arts Centre are interspersed with visual art, which perfectly match and even enhance the illustrious atmosphere of the music.
