On the island of Ceylon, two pearl fishermen and childhood friends are torn apart by their love for the same woman, the young priestess Leïla.
In this opera, which marks his debut, Bizet delivers luminous, tender music with a subtle Oriental flavour. For this new production, featuring a cast of marvellous French singers conducted by the brilliant Victorien Vanoosten, choreographer Thomas Lebrun has created a staging that combines the grace of the Opéra national du Capitole Ballet, the magic of Antoine Fontaine's sets and the splendour of David Belugou's costumes
