Berliner Philharmoniker - A Musical Journey in 3D

Berliner Philharmoniker
Sir Simon Rattle

Experience the Berliner Philharmoniker with Sir Simon Rattle in 3D from Singapore’s Esplanade Theatres on the Bay. Making use of the new possibilities of 3D technology the audience feels present when the Berliner Philharmoniker and their famous musical director Sir Simon Rattle perform works by Mahler and Rachmaninov at the spectacular Concert Hall in Singapore. Described by many as the finest orchestra in the world, the Berliner Philharmoniker present Mahler’s First Symphony – a unique and breath-taking experience in the concert hall – and Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances. Based on the composers original titles of the movements “midday, sunset, midnight” the music is interwoven with 3D scenes from Singapore. They show the life of the people of Singapore as representative of the multiplicity of people in general, Singapore’s fascinating architecture between tradition and modernity – its cultural variety and the peaceful coexistence of its various religions playing a particular role. The innovative 3D-technology makes it possible to employ completely new perspectives, so that every viewer can experience the concert not only from the front row of the stalls but also from a seat in the middle of the orchestra. The 3D film will be released in cinemas worldwide in 2011. This programme is also available as a full, uncompromised 2D version (programme number: 5890).
