The Artist is Female

Phyllida Barlow, Siri Hustved, Sophie Schmidt, Gabriele Münter and many others
Gabriele Münter belongs to the first generation of women, who considered themselves professional artists. A lot of water has run down the river in the meantime and actually it should be no problem being taking seriously as a female artist. However works by their male counterparts are still priced significantly higher on the art market. Paradoxically though, it is the market itself that regulates this disproportion now, because works by women artist, who are in their eighties today, are a true cash cow: undiscovered, but very valuable.
