Dance with Rodin

Ballet Julien Lestel | Julien Lestel choreographer | Patrick Murru costumes | Lo-Ammy Vaimatapako light

After adapting parts of his choreography in famous Parisian museums, choreographer Julien Lestel is now working on a new creation inspired by the works of Rodin.
Particularly inspired by the famous sculptor, what fascinates him above all is the movement that emerges from all his works. Seeking neither resemblance at all costs, nor ideal beauty, Rodin portrays the gesture, rhythm and momentum that reveal the diversity of human expression. Rodin wanted to make things real and, beyond appearances, to restore the truth of the body.
Well beyond questions of anatomical accuracy, the body as a vehicle for expressing the movements of the soul and the passions, but also as a support for the artist's fantasies, constitutes in fact, throughout his career, an inexhaustible source of inspiration in his search for a perfection combining the beauty of the ancient ideal and the mystery of nature. This future creation will be centred on the questions of impulse, flight, gravity and balance.
