Verbier Festival 2018: Christoph Eschenbach conducts Mahler Symphony No. 4, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Ying Fang

The music of Gustav Mahler has played an important role in the musical life and personal development of Christoph Eschenbach and it is no surprise that he would choose to perform the Fourth Symphony in Verbier. The work is built around the song Das himmlische Leben (The Heavenly Life) whose theme is announced throughout the work before it is fully sung by soprano. This task is entrusted to Ying Fang whose refined art of singing, chisels the poetic words set to music by Mahler.
